India Announce Test Squad for Sri Lanka Series as Jadeja Returns, Saransh Jain Earns Maiden Call-Up

The Board of Control for Cricket in India has announced India's 15-member squad for the upcoming two-match Test series against Sri Lanka, with Ravindra Jadeja making his return to the Test setup and Madhya Pradesh all-rounder Saransh Jain receiving his maiden Test call-up.

The squad will be led by Shubman Gill, while KL Rahul continues as vice-captain for the two-match series beginning in August.

Jadeja Returns, Sundar Misses Out

The return of Ravindra Jadeja strengthens India's spin attack ahead of a tour where conditions are expected to favour slow bowlers.

Meanwhile, Washington Sundar has been ruled out of the first Test due to injury and has not been included in the squad. India will instead rely on Jadeja, Kuldeep Yadav, Manav Suthar, and debutant Saransh Jain as spin options.

Bumrah and Sai Sudharsan Await Fitness Clearance

Fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah and batter Sai Sudharsan have been named in the squad, but their participation remains subject to fitness clearance.

The team management is expected to assess both players before taking a final decision on their availability for the series.

India Aim to Revive WTC Campaign

India head into the Sri Lanka tour looking to revive their campaign in the ICC World Test Championship after a disappointing home Test season that affected their standings.

The series presents an important opportunity for Shubman Gill's side to secure valuable WTC points and regain momentum in the new cycle.
