Abhishek Sharma Hits Fastest T20I Century as India Beat Afghanistan 3-0

Abhishek Sharma turned the third T20I against Afghanistan into a record-breaking show of power hitting, smashing India’s fastest T20I century in just 30 balls. His explosive 108-run knock helped India post 221 runs at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in New Delhi before the bowlers completed a 127-run victory. The win gave Shreyas Iyer’s team a clean 3-0 sweep in the series.

Abhishek Sharma Destroys Afghanistan Attack

Abhishek walked out with an aggressive approach and never allowed Afghanistan’s bowlers to settle. Pace or spin made little difference as he attacked Fazalhaq Farooqi, Azmatullah Omarzai and Rashid Khan with powerful strokes.

The left-handed opener reached his century in only 30 deliveries, breaking Rohit Sharma’s previous record for the fastest T20I hundred by an Indian batter.

His innings eventually ended in the 10th over when Rashid Khan dismissed him. Abhishek finished with 108 runs from 34 balls, including 102 runs through boundaries. His knock gave India a huge advantage in the first innings.

India Score 100 Runs in Powerplay

India’s start was so dominant that the team crossed the 100-run mark during the powerplay. Sanju Samson played an important supporting role and continued the attacking approach from the other end.

Samson went on to score a half-century, keeping India’s run rate high even after Abhishek returned to the pavilion. India briefly appeared capable of pushing towards 250, but the scoring slowed during the later stages.

Tilak Varma, Shivam Dube and Ishan Kishan could not make a major impact, leaving India with 221 runs from their 20 overs.

Afghanistan Batters Struggle Again

Afghanistan needed a strong start to stay in the contest, but their batting lineup struggled against India’s bowling attack.

Ibrahim Zadran showed some early resistance and scored 25 runs from 16 balls. However, Afghanistan lost four wickets during the powerplay, leaving the chase in serious trouble.

Indian bowlers kept the pressure on and prevented the visitors from building any meaningful partnership. Afghanistan were eventually bowled out for just 94 runs.

India Complete 3-0 Series Sweep

India’s 127-run victory completed a dominant 3-0 series result against Afghanistan. The batting performance in Delhi was led by Abhishek’s record century, while the bowling unit ensured that the opposition never came close to challenging the target.

For Afghanistan, the series highlighted continuing problems with their batting, particularly when facing sustained pressure from India’s bowlers.

For India, the series provided another strong T20I performance and gave Abhishek Sharma a record that will stand out in the team’s short-format history.
