Fast-Track Courts for Speedy Justice

Up to 10 Years in Jail, ₹10 Crore Fine

The amended law proposes up to 10 years of imprisonment for those convicted of involvement in paper leak cases. It also includes a maximum fine of ₹10 crore, making it one of the toughest legal frameworks against examination-related crimes in India.

Move Comes Amid NEET-UG Row

The Cabinet's approval comes amid nationwide protests over the alleged NEET-UG paper leak, with students demanding accountability, transparency, and stronger safeguards for competitive examinations. The issue has triggered widespread public concern over the credibility of the examination process.

Bill to Be Introduced in Parliament

Prime Minister Narendra Modi had earlier announced that the government was preparing a dedicated law to tackle paper leaks and protect students' interests. Following Cabinet approval, the proposed amendment is expected to be introduced in Parliament during the ongoing Monsoon Session for discussion and passage.

The government says the legislation is designed to dismantle organised paper leak networks, strengthen examination security, and ensure strict legal action against those involved in compromising the integrity of public examinations.
