BJP Launches Month-Long Drive to Mark PM Modi's 25 Years

The Bharatiya Janata Party has announced a nationwide month-long programme to mark Prime Minister Narendra Modi completing 25 years in public office. The campaign will begin on September 17 and continue until October 17, with a series of public-service activities planned across the country. The milestone falls on October 7, when Modi completes 25 years since he first took charge as Gujarat's Chief Minister in 2001. He later moved to national politics and became Prime Minister in 2014. The programme will include blood donation drives, cleanliness campaigns, welfare assistance camps, school competitions and activities involving grassroots workers. Party units will also organise public events, cultural programmes and social-media initiatives during the month.

BJP Seva Sankalp Abhiyan: What Is the Campaign?

The BJP Seva Sankalp Abhiyan has been designed as a nationwide outreach programme around a major milestone in Narendra Modi's political career. The campaign is scheduled from September 17 to October 17. September 17 is also Modi's birthday and is observed by the BJP as a day associated with public-service activities. BJP national president Nitin Nabin announced the programme at the party headquarters. Senior leaders, including Vinod Tawde and Anil Baluni, were present during the announcement. The party has said that the campaign will involve workers and organisational units across the country rather than being limited to one central event. The programme combines welfare outreach, public participation, cultural activities and communication campaigns.

PM Modi's 25 Years in Public Office

The central theme of the campaign is PM Modi 25 Years in public office. Narendra Modi first became Gujarat Chief Minister on October 7, 2001. He remained in that position for nearly 13 years before becoming Prime Minister of India in May 2014. The BJP is presenting the period as a continuous political journey from state-level administration to national leadership. The October 7 milestone is therefore being used by the party as the main date for the campaign's central celebrations. The BJP says the programme will showcase different aspects of Modi's political journey, governance initiatives and public-service message.

The first major activities are scheduled for September 17.

Blood donation camps will be organised in different parts of the country. The party has also planned the "Aashirwad Ka Diya" programme, under which lamps will be lit at 7 pm. The activity is expected to involve BJP workers as well as families who have benefited from government welfare programmes. Another initiative, "Namo Sewa Gatha," will focus on helping people access government schemes. Camps will be organised at assembly and block levels so beneficiaries can receive information and assistance without repeatedly visiting government offices. This welfare-oriented component is designed to make the campaign more than a commemorative political event.

Students will also be part of the campaign.

Between September 17 and October 7, schools are expected to organise drawing, painting and speech competitions under the "Sapno Ka Bharat" initiative. The activities are intended to encourage students to discuss India's development, national aspirations and the idea of a future-oriented country. The BJP is also planning programmes for young people through innovation and public-engagement initiatives. The party's wider campaign strategy includes social media content, short videos and digital storytelling. Young people and content creators are expected to play a role in presenting stories linked to government schemes and development projects. The use of digital platforms reflects the BJP's growing focus on communicating political and development narratives through social media.

Anganwadi and ASHA Workers to Be Honoured

Women working at the grassroots level will have a prominent role in the campaign. From September 25 to October 7, Anganwadi centres are expected to participate in "Angan Ka Utsav". The programme will recognise Anganwadi workers and ASHA workers for their contribution to communities. These workers play an important role in areas such as child nutrition, maternal support, health awareness and delivery of welfare services. The BJP has said that the campaign will use such programmes to highlight the work of people who operate at the grassroots level. The initiative also provides a direct connection between the political campaign and workers involved in public welfare activities.

Street Plays to Highlight Development Stories

The campaign will also use traditional forms of public communication. Under "Kahani Badlaav Ki", street plays will be organised in villages to present stories about governance and development. The format is intended to reach audiences who may not regularly engage with political content online. Alongside street plays, the party plans "Sewa Ki Kahani", a digital storytelling initiative featuring photographs, videos and short reels about people who have benefited from government schemes. Party organisations have been asked to collect beneficiary stories and share them through social media platforms. This part of the programme shows how the BJP is combining traditional grassroots outreach with digital communication.

Another major component is "Sewa Mera Yogdan".

Under the initiative, ordinary citizens and party workers will be encouraged to undertake at least one public-service activity during the campaign period. The idea is to turn the anniversary programme into a broader participation exercise rather than limiting activities to BJP office-bearers. Participants could become involved in community service, cleanliness efforts, assistance to beneficiaries or other socially useful activities. The BJP has framed the initiative around the broader idea that public service should involve society as a whole.

October 2 to Focus on Cleanliness and Gandhi's Ideas

October 2, the birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, will also form part of the campaign calendar. BJP workers are expected to participate in cleanliness drives and public activities. The party plans to use the occasion to highlight themes associated with Gandhi, including cleanliness, self-reliance and the promotion of Khadi. Workers will also participate in programmes at public places and around Gandhi statues. The October 2 activities are intended to connect the campaign's broader service message with an established national observance.

Seva Jyoti Yatra on October 7

October 7 will be one of the most important dates in the campaign because it marks 25 years since Modi became Gujarat Chief Minister. The BJP plans to organise "Seva Jyoti Yatra" activities, including motorcycle and cycle rallies in districts across the country. The rallies are expected to travel through villages and towns while promoting the party's message of public service and development.

Vadnagar-Varanasi Programme Gains Attention

The Vadnagar-Varanasi connection is one of the more symbolic elements of the campaign. According to plans announced by the Gujarat BJP, youth-wing members will participate in motorcycle rallies carrying water collected from rivers in Gujarat to Varanasi. On the return journey, Ganga water will be taken back toward Vadnagar. The programme is designed to connect two locations that have played an important role in Modi's political journey. Vadnagar represents his birthplace and early life, while Varanasi has been his parliamentary constituency since he entered national politics. The BJP has also planned public meetings and outreach activities along the route.

Digital Campaign and Social Media Outreach

Digital communication will be another major part of the programme. The party plans to document stories of people who have benefited from welfare initiatives through photographs, videos and short social-media reels. The campaign is expected to use party workers, local organisations and digital influencers to increase online reach. The BJP has also planned photo and digital exhibitions covering Modi's political journey, governance record and development initiatives. These activities are intended to give the campaign a strong online presence while allowing local units to produce content based on events in their own areas.

Innovation Challenges for Young People

Young innovators will also be included in the campaign. A National Innovation Challenge is planned through several regional-level competitions. The programme is expected to focus on problem-solving and encourage young participants to develop ideas around national and community challenges. The BJP has increasingly highlighted entrepreneurship, innovation and technology as part of its development narrative. The campaign will therefore combine political outreach with programmes designed to involve students, young professionals and innovators.

Campaign to Promote Government Welfare Schemes

A major focus of the outreach programme will be government welfare schemes. Special camps will provide information about central and state programmes and help people understand eligibility and application procedures. Similar welfare-access camps have been announced by BJP units in different states, including programmes covering schemes related to health, housing, electricity, livelihoods and financial support. The party's stated aim is to ensure that people who qualify for government assistance are able to access the relevant benefits.

October 17: Campaign's Closing Programme

The month-long programme is scheduled to conclude on October 17. The closing event, titled "Sushasan Sewa Samvad", is expected to bring together elected representatives and grassroots leaders from across the country. The event will include a retrospective presentation covering Modi's 25-year political journey. A "Viksit Bharat Sankalp Prastav" is also planned, followed by an address from Prime Minister Modi. The BJP intends to use the closing programme to connect the anniversary with its larger vision of Viksit Bharat 2047, which is focused on India's development goals for the period leading up to 2047.

BJP Coordination Committee for the Campaign

A national coordination structure has been created to manage the programme. BJP president Nitin Nabin is heading the campaign's national coordination effort, while national general secretary Vinod Tawde has been assigned a key organisational role. A wider group of senior party leaders, ministers and MPs will assist with different parts of the programme. State-level teams are also expected to coordinate activities and ensure that the national schedule is implemented at district, assembly and grassroots levels. The party has issued organisational instructions to its state and zonal units to prepare for the campaign and ensure publicity through traditional media and social platforms.

BJP's Broader Political Outreach

The scale of the programme indicates that the BJP is treating the 25-year milestone as both a commemorative occasion and a nationwide organisational exercise. The party is planning events for several groups, including students, women, welfare beneficiaries, Anganwadi and ASHA workers, youth, elected representatives and local communities. The programme also combines service activities with cultural events, political communication and digital outreach. The BJP has described Modi's journey as one of continuous public service, while the campaign will give party workers an opportunity to communicate that message directly to people across different regions.

Why October 7 Is Important

October 7, 2001, was the day Narendra Modi took oath as Gujarat Chief Minister. The campaign comes at a time when the BJP is strengthening its organisational outreach across states. With programmes spread across villages, schools, welfare centres, party offices and public spaces, the initiative gives the organisation a large number of opportunities to interact directly with citizens. The use of beneficiary stories and welfare camps also allows the party to focus on the impact of government programmes rather than only political speeches. At the same time, rallies, exhibitions, street plays and digital campaigns will give the programme a strong political communication component.
