A woman has alleged that she was sexually assaulted at a hotel in Begusarai, Bihar, on September 27, leading to the arrest of two men. Police said one of the accused was apprehended while allegedly attempting to flee toward neighbouring Nepal. The case came to light after the woman approached police and described what she said happened after she was taken to a hotel. Police have since arrested Rohit Kumar and Vikram Kumar Sahni and seized a mobile phone allegedly linked to a video that was circulated online.

Woman Alleges Assault at Hotel

According to the woman's complaint, she was collecting loan repayments from women associated with JEEViKA self-help groups in her locality on September 27 when she encountered her neighbour, Vikram Kumar Sahni. She alleged that Sahni persuaded her to get onto his motorcycle and subsequently took her to a cinema hall. From there, she said another man, Rohit Kumar, took her to a nearby hotel on the pretext of discussing a matter with her. The woman alleged that she was then taken to a room at the hotel, where Kumar sexually assaulted her while allegedly threatening her with a knife. She also alleged that the incident was recorded on a mobile phone.

Woman Says She Escaped From Hotel

The complainant told police that she managed to leave the hotel after the alleged incident and returned to her home. She said she informed her family about what had happened before approaching the police and filing a complaint. A video allegedly showing the assault subsequently circulated online. Police said they have seized the phone from which the video was allegedly made viral as part of the investigation. The circulation of the video has added another aspect to the police investigation, with officers examining how it was recorded and subsequently shared.

Police Examine Hotel CCTV Footage

The Bihar Police investigation has also focused on CCTV footage from the hotel. Police said the footage provided information about the movements of the woman and Rohit Kumar on the day of the alleged incident. According to the police statement, Kumar entered room number 203 at Hotel Blue Diamond alone at around 7:01 am. The woman was recorded entering the hotel at around 7:33 am. Police said CCTV footage showed that she entered the hotel alone and later met Kumar on the second floor. The footage further showed both of them entering the room together.

CCTV Shows Both Leaving the Hotel

Police said the CCTV footage was also examined for the period after the woman entered the room. According to the official statement, Kumar and the woman were seen leaving the room together at around 12:33 pm before exiting the hotel. The footage is now part of the evidence being examined by investigators as they work to establish the sequence of events. Police have said that the CCTV findings are being considered alongside the woman's complaint and other evidence collected during the investigation.

Two Accused Arrested

Both Rohit Kumar and Vikram Kumar Sahni have been arrested in connection with the case. Police said one of the accused was arrested while allegedly trying to leave the country and flee toward Nepal. The arrests followed the woman's complaint and the subsequent investigation into the alleged assault. Investigators are now examining the roles of both accused and collecting additional evidence related to the case.
