Nepal flash floods have left 133 Indian tourists and pilgrims missing or stranded, with travellers from several states caught in the devastating disaster. Tamil Nadu has reported 37 tourists whose whereabouts remain unknown, while a 32-member group from West Bengal is also untraceable.

Tamil Nadu Tourists Missing in Nepal

Officials in Tamil Nadu said 37 of 57 tourists from the state travelling in Nepal remain unaccounted for, while 20 people have been traced.

The group was reportedly travelling towards a Himalayan temple when the flash floods struck. Authorities are continuing efforts to establish contact with those who remain missing.

The Isha Foundation has also reported that 77 of its members who were at an immigration centre in Nepal could not initially be contacted. The organisation said 495 people had returned safely.

Nepalese authorities later said staff at the immigration centre were also out of contact, highlighting the communication problems caused by the disaster.

32-Member West Bengal Group Untraceable

A 32-member group from Kolkata travelling for the Kailash Mansarovar Yatra is among those unaccounted for after flooding struck the Nepal-Tibet border region.

The group included 30 tourists and two tour managers. They left Kolkata on August 21 and reached Nepal the following day.

The group reached Rasuwagadhi on Wednesday morning and was at an immigration facility when the flash flood struck the border area.

Officials said communication with all 32 members was lost after the disaster.

People from Chandannagar in Hooghly and Barasat in North 24 Parganas are also believed to be among those affected.

Uttar Pradesh Travellers Stranded

Several people from Uttar Pradesh are believed to be stranded in Nepal following the floods.

Farmer leader Rakesh Tikait, who travelled to Nepal by road with associates, was reportedly stranded in Pokhara.

Tikait said in a video message that the group planned to travel to Kathmandu by air and then fly to Delhi because road travel had become difficult.

Authorities in Uttar Pradesh are collecting information about residents whose relatives may be stranded or missing in Nepal.

Maharashtra Tourists Among Those Affected

Seven tourists from Maharashtra were reported stranded in Nepal after the floods.

Officials said four of them had been contacted and confirmed safe, while efforts were continuing to establish contact with the remaining three.

State authorities are also collecting information about other Maharashtra residents who may have travelled through the affected areas.

Kailash Mansarovar Pilgrims Face Uncertainty

Several Indians reported missing in Nepal were travelling as part of pilgrimage groups heading towards Mount Kailash and Lake Mansarovar.

The Nepal-Tibet route is used by thousands of pilgrims and tourists, but the disaster has severely affected roads and access routes in the Himalayan region.

At least 59 affected Indians are believed to be pilgrims travelling for the Kailash Mansarovar Yatra, according to information from a travel agency.

Kerala Group Reported Safe

Kerala officials have reported that a group of 36 tourists from the state is safe.

The confirmation has provided relief to families waiting for information about relatives who travelled to Nepal.
