Iran Claims Attacks on US Military Targets Across Gulf Region

Iran has claimed that its forces launched a series of attacks against American military positions in several countries across the Gulf and wider Middle East, marking another sharp escalation in the ongoing confrontation between Tehran and Washington. According to statements from the Iranian military and the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, attacks were carried out against locations associated with US forces in the United Arab Emirates, Kuwait and Bahrain, while additional targets were reported in Jordan and Iraq's Kurdistan region. The claims came after the United States carried out fresh strikes against Iranian military and security infrastructure. The latest exchange has raised concerns that the conflict could spread further across the region, particularly because several Gulf countries host American troops and military facilities.

Iranian Army Reports Drone Attacks in the UAE

Iran's military said dozens of attack drones were used against positions connected to American forces in the UAE. The Iranian Army claimed that radar systems and US military positions at the Al Dhafra and Al Minhad bases were targeted. It also said US-related positions at Sheikh Isa Air Base in Bahrain came under attack. The claims were reported by Iranian state-linked media and officials, and the statements represent Tehran's account of the military operations. Independent confirmation of the extent of damage from all the claimed attacks was not immediately available. Al Dhafra is an important military installation in the UAE and has been associated with American air operations and surveillance activities in the region. The development is significant because the UAE has previously tried to avoid becoming directly involved in the military confrontation between the United States and Iran. Any sustained attacks involving American facilities on UAE territory could increase pressure on Gulf governments to strengthen air-defence measures and protect critical infrastructure.

Kuwait Also Becomes a Major Focus

Iran's Revolutionary Guards said its forces also carried out a combined missile and drone operation against American military facilities in Kuwait. The IRGC claimed that Ali Al Salem Air Base was targeted, including facilities linked to the US command structure and accommodation for American personnel. Iranian officials also claimed that the operation damaged or destroyed several drones and caused fires at facilities at the base. Those claims could not immediately be independently verified. The Iranian military said the operation was directed at the American military presence rather than the Kuwaiti population. Kuwait, which hosts American forces, has meanwhile reported responding to hostile missile and drone threats. The Kuwaiti military said its air-defence systems were activated as the security situation deteriorated.

Bahrain Reports Another Threat

Bahrain was also mentioned in Iranian military statements. Iran said its forces targeted American military positions at Sheikh Isa Air Base using drones. The Iranian Army described radar installations and gathering points linked to US forces as targets. Bahrain has been an important location for the American military presence in the region, making it a strategically significant point during the current confrontation. Reports from the country indicated that Iranian drones were intercepted by air-defence systems. The situation demonstrated the increasing role of missile and drone interception systems as regional governments attempt to protect their airspace.

Iran Claims Operations in Jordan and Iraq

The Iranian Revolutionary Guards also said that its forces targeted US positions in Jordan and Erbil in Iraq's Kurdistan region. The IRGC claimed that combined missile and drone attacks were conducted against American facilities in Erbil. Iranian statements said that equipment and facilities associated with US surveillance operations were among the targets.

Jordan also faced missile threats during the latest escalation.

According to Jordanian authorities, air-defence systems dealt with multiple ballistic missiles that entered the country's airspace. Reuters-based reporting said 13 missiles entered Jordanian airspace, with 10 intercepted and three falling in remote areas. Initial US assessments indicated there were no casualties from the Iranian attack on facilities in Jordan, although the situation remained fluid.

Fresh US-Iran Conflict Escalates

The latest Iranian attacks followed new American military operations against targets in Iran. US forces said they had conducted strikes against Iranian military infrastructure, including air-defence and radar-related sites. The renewed attacks came after heightened tensions around shipping and military activity near the Strait of Hormuz. Iran subsequently threatened retaliation and launched attacks against American-linked targets across several countries. The latest confrontation represents one of the most serious escalations in the conflict after a period of relative calm. Reports indicate that the exchange has now spread beyond the territory of Iran and the United States, placing several regional countries in an increasingly difficult position.

Gulf Countries Caught in the Middle

The latest developments have placed several Gulf states in a challenging position. Countries including the UAE, Kuwait and Bahrain maintain close security relationships with Washington while also seeking to avoid becoming direct battlefields in the confrontation between the United States and Iran. The presence of American military personnel and facilities makes these countries potential targets during periods of escalation. At the same time, attacks or attempted attacks create risks for civilians, commercial aviation, energy infrastructure and regional trade. The use of drones and missiles also creates additional challenges because air-defence systems must identify and intercept threats quickly while preventing debris or intercepted projectiles from causing further damage.

Strait of Hormuz Adds to Regional Concerns

The latest military confrontation is also unfolding against the backdrop of continuing tensions around the Strait of Hormuz. The waterway is one of the world's most important energy routes, and any prolonged military escalation in or around the strait could have consequences far beyond the Middle East. The renewed conflict has already contributed to concerns about energy supplies and shipping security. Market participants are closely watching developments because disruptions in the region can affect crude oil prices, insurance costs and global transportation. Any further expansion of military operations involving Gulf countries could therefore have economic consequences in Asia, Europe and other major energy-importing regions.
