The Indian women’s cricket team created history by defeating England by 270 runs in the one-off Test match at Lord’s Cricket Ground in London. The victory marks India Women’s first-ever Test win at the iconic venue, making it one of the most memorable achievements in the history of Indian women’s cricket.

India delivered a commanding performance with both bat and ball to outclass the hosts and secure a landmark victory at the Home of Cricket.

England struggled against India’s disciplined bowling attack and were bowled out for 186, handing the visitors a comprehensive 270-run victory.

The win underlined India's dominance throughout the match and showcased the team's growing strength in the longest format of the game.

The historic triumph received widespread praise across the country.

Union Sports Minister Mansukh Mandaviya congratulated the team, describing the victory as a proud moment for India. In a social media post, he applauded the players for becoming the first Indian women’s team to win a Test match at Lord’s.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) also celebrated the achievement, calling it a landmark moment that reflects the remarkable progress of women’s cricket in the country.

BCCI Hails Growth of Women’s Cricket

BCCI President Mithun Manhas described the victory as one of the greatest moments in Indian women’s cricket history. He praised the players for their discipline, determination and fearless approach while acknowledging the efforts made to strengthen women’s cricket through long-term development programmes.

BCCI Secretary Devajit Saikia said the success is the result of sustained investment in women’s cricket. He highlighted initiatives such as equal pay for centrally contracted women players, increased domestic match fees and the introduction of the Women’s Premier League (WPL), which have helped transform the sport in India.
