IND vs SL 2nd Test: India Dominate Day 3 as Sri Lanka Trail by 238 Runs

India continued their dominance over Sri Lanka in the second Test at the Sinhalese Sports Club Ground in Colombo, with the hosts ending Day 3 still 238 runs behind India.

India made a strong start to the match after winning the toss and choosing to bat first. The visitors reached 300 runs for five wickets by the end of the opening day, setting up a strong platform for a big first-innings total.

Pant and Jurel provide middle-order strength

Rishabh Pant and Dhruv Jurel were among India's key performers during the second day. Both batters completed their half-centuries, while Jurel also moved closer to another Test century.

Their contributions helped India build a commanding position and put pressure on the Sri Lankan bowling attack.

Prasidh Krishna strikes early

Sri Lanka faced further trouble after beginning their innings on Day 3. Kamil Mishara was dismissed for 19 runs as India made an early breakthrough.

Prasidh Krishna emerged as a key threat with the ball, claiming two wickets and putting the Sri Lankan batting order under pressure.

With wickets falling and the run deficit remaining substantial, Sri Lanka were unable to make significant progress before stumps were called.

Follow-on pressure on Sri Lanka

Sri Lanka's large deficit has put them under considerable pressure. India could potentially enforce the follow-on if the hosts fail to reduce the gap sufficiently in their first innings.

Sri Lanka will need a major batting effort to avoid being forced into another innings quickly and keep the Test competitive.

India aim to extend series dominance

India entered the second Test with confidence after winning the opening match by 165 runs. Their all-round performance in the first Test allowed them to dominate both with the bat and the ball.

Sri Lanka, meanwhile, will be looking for a major turnaround in Colombo. With India firmly ahead, the hosts face a difficult task to prevent the visitors from taking another commanding result in the series.
