India Stay in Control as Sri Lanka Trail by 495 Runs at End of Day 2

India, who won the toss and chose to bat first, resumed Day 2 from a strong position after finishing the opening day at 300 for five.

Rishabh Pant and Dhruv Jurel played important innings during the second day. Both batters completed their half-centuries, while Jurel continued to push toward his second Test century.

India eventually declared their innings at 503, putting significant pressure on the Sri Lankan batting lineup.

Sri Lanka Face Huge Deficit

Sri Lanka began their first innings after India posted a commanding total. By the end of Day 2, the hosts were still 495 runs behind India, leaving them with a major challenge ahead.

India's bowlers will look to take advantage of the pressure when play resumes, while Sri Lanka will need a strong batting performance to reduce the deficit and stay competitive in the match.

India Lead Series After First Test

India entered the second Test with confidence after a dominant performance in the series opener.

The Indian team won the first Test by 165 runs, producing a strong all-round display with both bat and ball. Sri Lanka struggled to match India's intensity during that match and will be looking for a much stronger response in Colombo.

Pressure Mounts on Sri Lanka

With India already posting more than 500 runs, Sri Lanka face a difficult task in the second Test. Their batters will need to build long partnerships and avoid losing early wickets.

India, meanwhile, remain in a commanding position and will look to convert their first-innings advantage into another victory.
