Amit Shah Meets Indian Disability Cricket Team After Historic Lord’s Victory

Union Home Minister Amit Shah met the Indian men’s disability cricket team in New Delhi after the players returned from their successful England tour.

The team participated in the India-England Men’s Mixed Disability T20 Series 2026, where they produced several strong performances, including a memorable victory at Lord’s.

Shah praised the players for their determination and said their efforts to bring honour to India could inspire young people across the country.

India Records Historic Victory at Lord’s

India finished the series with a major achievement on August 19 by defeating England by 118 runs at Lord’s.

Batting first, India scored 206 runs for four wickets in 20 overs.

Arjun Gaware played an important innings of 68 runs, while Majid Magre contributed 63 runs to help India post a strong total.

England struggled during the chase and were bowled out for just 88 runs in 13.4 overs.

Following the victory, Indian players celebrated their historic success by waving their jerseys from the Lord’s balcony.

England Won the Series 4-3

The seven-match series was closely contested despite England eventually winning the overall series 4-3.

England won the opening match by 29 runs before India responded with a six-run victory in the second game.

India then defeated England by eight runs in the third match to take a 2-1 lead.

England levelled the series by winning the fourth match by two runs and then moved ahead after victories in the fifth and sixth games.

The fifth match ended with a 54-run win for England, while the sixth was won by 18 runs.

Although India could not win the overall series, the final match produced one of the team's biggest victories of the tour.

Shah Praises Players’ Determination

During his meeting with the players, Shah congratulated the team for its performance and highlighted their commitment to representing India.

He said the players’ hard work and determination were an inspiration for the country's youth.

The meeting provided recognition for the team following its impressive performances during the England tour and its memorable victory at one of cricket's most famous venues.

Disability Cricket Gains Recognition

India’s performance in the series has also highlighted the growing visibility of disability cricket.

The historic victory at Lord’s provided an important moment for the players, while the meeting with the Home Minister brought additional attention to their achievements.

The team will now look ahead to future competitions as players and officials seek to build on the experience gained during the England tour.
