The mother of a teenage girl accused of making abusive remarks against Prime Minister Narendra Modi during a protest at Delhi's Jantar Mantar has thanked the Prime Minister for forgiving her daughter. Calling it a "jeevandaan" or a new lease of life, she said the decision had given her family hope and marked a fresh beginning for the teenager.

Speaking to the media, the mother expressed gratitude to PM Modi for choosing forgiveness instead of retaliation despite the offensive slogans directed at him. She described the gesture as the greatest birthday gift her daughter could have received.

Appeals for Withdrawal of FIR

The girl's mother also appealed to the Prime Minister to ensure that the FIR registered against her daughter is withdrawn. She claimed the FIR contains incorrect information about the teenager's age and requested that the case be closed so her daughter can move forward without legal complications.

She said the family hopes the teenager will now have the opportunity to rebuild her life peacefully.

Mother Requests PM Modi to Guide Her Daughter

In an emotional appeal, the mother urged Prime Minister Modi to help shape her daughter's future. She requested him to "adopt" the teenager in the sense of providing guidance and support, saying such encouragement could help the girl become a responsible citizen.

According to the mother, the family believes the teenager deserves a second chance after admitting her mistake.

Family Faced Online Abuse

The mother said the viral video led to severe online criticism and harassment against the family. She stated that she does not use Instagram but was informed about abusive comments directed at them after the video spread across social media platforms.

She added that many young people today are vulnerable to online influence and often become involved in situations without fully understanding the consequences.

Calls for Stronger Social Media Rules for Minors

The mother also appealed to the government to introduce stricter safeguards for children using social media. She suggested restricting access to platforms such as Instagram and Facebook for minors and urged authorities to prevent children below the age of 18 from participating in political protests.

According to her, teenagers are easily influenced and should focus on education rather than becoming involved in activities they may not fully understand.

Teen Issues Public Apology

Earlier, the teenager released a public apology video in which she said she is 15 years old and admitted that she was influenced by others present during the protest. She said she attended the gathering with friends after visiting Connaught Place and became carried away by the atmosphere.

With folded hands, the girl apologised for her remarks and acknowledged that her actions were wrong.

PM Modi Urges Society to Forgive Young People

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, in a video message, said that while the abusive slogans directed at him and his late mother were deeply hurtful, young people should be given an opportunity to learn from their mistakes instead of facing only punishment.

He urged society to guide children toward responsible behaviour and help them become better citizens.

Police Investigation Continues

A Zero FIR was registered at Noida's Expressway Police Station over the alleged abusive slogans raised during the July 23 protest at Jantar Mantar. The complaint alleges that the remarks insulted the dignity of the Prime Minister's constitutional office and had the potential to disturb public order.
