6 Dead, 14 Injured After Pickup Rams Truck On Haryana Expressway

A tragic Haryana Expressway Accident claimed the lives of six pilgrims and left 14 others injured after a pickup vehicle crashed into a stationary truck on the Kundli-Manesar-Palwal Expressway in Haryana's Palwal district on Tuesday morning. The accident took place at around 4:30 am when the passengers were travelling towards Vrindavan in Uttar Pradesh after completing a religious trip to Rajasthan. According to the police, the group had visited the Khatu Shyam temple and several other religious places before beginning their journey back. The crash occurred during the early morning hours, when visibility and driver alertness can be critical. Preliminary findings indicate that the pickup driver may have fallen asleep while driving, resulting in the vehicle striking the stationary truck.

Driver Fled After the Crash

Police officials said the driver allegedly fled from the accident site after the collision. Authorities have launched efforts to locate and trace him. Investigators are examining the circumstances surrounding the crash to establish exactly how the accident occurred. While falling asleep at the wheel has emerged as the preliminary reason, further investigation is expected to provide more details. The incident has once again highlighted the dangers of driving long distances without adequate rest, particularly during overnight and early-morning journeys.

Victims Were Returning From Religious Places

The passengers travelling in the pickup were reportedly returning from Rajasthan after visiting several religious destinations, including the well-known Khatu Shyam temple. Their intended destination was Vrindavan in Uttar Pradesh. However, the journey ended in tragedy when their vehicle collided with the stationary truck on the expressway in Palwal. The accident has caused grief among families in Mainpuri district of Uttar Pradesh, where the victims were reportedly from.

Three Women Among Those Killed

Police confirmed that three of the six people who died in the Palwal Accident were women. The deceased have been identified as Vijay, aged 75; Rajkumar, 40; Reshma, 45; Kamala, 65; Sudha, 52; and Mahesh, 60. The identities of the victims were released as authorities continued with the necessary procedures following the crash.

Fourteen Injured Taken to Hospital

Fourteen people sustained injuries in the Haryana Road Accident and were rushed to a hospital in Palwal for medical treatment. The injured passengers are being treated by medical teams. The authorities have also shifted the bodies of those who died to the Civil Hospital, where postmortem examinations are being carried out. The condition of the injured and the extent of their injuries will remain an important part of the investigation and subsequent proceedings.

Police Begin Investigation

Following the crash, police began investigating the circumstances surrounding the accident. Officials are attempting to establish the sequence of events leading up to the collision and are also working to trace the driver who reportedly escaped from the spot. The location of the crash, the condition of the stationary truck and the circumstances in which the pickup was being driven are expected to be examined as part of the investigation. The preliminary assessment points towards driver fatigue or sleep as a possible cause, but authorities are continuing their probe.

Early Morning Crash Raises Safety Concerns

The Road Accident in Haryana has once again drawn attention to the risks associated with driving during the early hours, particularly after long journeys. Drivers travelling overnight or before dawn are advised to take adequate breaks and avoid continuing their journey when they feel tired or sleepy. Even a brief loss of alertness can have serious consequences, especially on highways and expressways. In this case, the passengers were travelling after a religious trip, making the incident particularly painful for their families and relatives.
