Rekha Gupta Government Forms 3 Committees For Delhi Festivals

The Delhi government has formed three special committees to coordinate preparations for Ramleela, Durga Puja and Chhath Puja across the capital. The committees have been constituted on the directions of Chief Minister Rekha Gupta and will work with government departments and district administrations to ensure arrangements are completed before the festivals. The focus will be on facilities for devotees and organisers, along with security, traffic management, sanitation, electricity, drinking water and medical services at festival venues.

Ramleela Committee To Coordinate Venue Arrangements

The committee overseeing Ramleela Preparations will be headed by Social Welfare Minister Ravindra Indraj Singh. MLAs Ashok Goel, Anil Kumar Sharma, Shyam Sharma, Sanjay Goel and Sandeep Sehrawat have been included as members, while the revenue-cum-divisional commissioner will serve as member secretary. The committee will coordinate necessary no-objection certificates through district magistrates under a single-window arrangement. It will also monitor drinking water, medical and ambulance services, fire safety, mobile toilets, traffic movement, cleanliness, fogging and uninterrupted electricity at Ramleela venues.

Durga Puja Committee To Focus On Immersion Arrangements

The Durga Puja Preparations committee will be headed by Art and Culture Minister Kapil Mishra. MLA Shikha Roy, MLA Neeraj Basoya and social workers Anjali Bhattacharya, Devdutt Bhardwaj and Arun Mukherjee will serve as members. Along with civic and safety arrangements, the committee will monitor artificial or temporary ponds and tanks used for idol immersion. It will also ensure that leftover material is removed after immersion. Delhi has already been preparing artificial immersion facilities. The government previously announced arrangements involving artificial ponds that can also be used for Durga Puja immersion and Chhath-related activities.

Chhath Puja Arrangements To Cover Ghats And Public Facilities

Kapil Mishra will also head the committee responsible for Chhath Puja Preparations. MLAs Abhay Kumar Verma, Chandan Kumar Chaudhary, Sandeep Sehrawat and Deepak Chaudhary, along with social worker Santosh Ojha, will be members. The committee will coordinate arrangements at Chhath ghats and other designated locations. These will include water facilities, medical assistance, ambulances, fire services, toilets, security, traffic management, sanitation, fogging and electricity.

Focus On Safety, Cleanliness And Traffic

The committees have been asked to coordinate closely with different departments so that festival arrangements do not create unnecessary difficulties for residents. Traffic management will be particularly important because large gatherings are expected at several venues during the festive period. The government has also said that the celebrations should be conducted with security, cleanliness and harmony while ensuring that regular traffic movement is not disrupted.

Why Has Delhi Formed Three Festival Committees?

The committees have been created to coordinate arrangements for Ramleela, Durga Puja and Chhath Puja. Their responsibilities include civic facilities, security, medical services, sanitation, electricity, traffic management and venue-related arrangements.

Where Will The Committees Work?

The committees will coordinate preparations at festival venues, Ramleela grounds, Durga Puja locations, Chhath ghats and other designated sites across Delhi. District administrations and government departments will work with the committees to complete arrangements.

Environmental And Social Messages During Festivals

The committees have also been tasked with promoting messages related to environmental protection, cleanliness and water conservation during the celebrations. Campaigns connected with Vocal for Local, Swadeshi and the Nasha Mukt Bharat initiative will also be promoted. With the festive season approaching, the three committees will now play a coordination role in ensuring that venues and public facilities are prepared in advance. The overall focus remains on making arrangements for devotees and organisers while maintaining essential civic services across Delhi.
