Delhi Police Bust Goldy Brar-Linked Extortion Network, 3 Arrested

Delhi Police have uncovered an alleged extortion network that investigators say was operating through a combination of overseas calls and local associates in India. Three suspected operatives have been arrested in connection with separate cases in which two Delhi businessmen were allegedly threatened and asked to pay ₹1 crore each. According to police, the alleged network used a UAE-based mobile number to contact the victims and presented the threats as being connected with gangster Goldy Brar. Investigators also suspect that the people behind the calls had prepared a plan to intimidate the victims further through attacks on their residences. Police said the arrests came after a technical and intelligence-based investigation that traced communication between people in India and an alleged caller based in Dubai.

Two Businessmen Received Similar ₹1 Crore Demands

The investigation began after a Delhi businessman and his family allegedly received a threatening call on September 16. Police said the caller demanded ₹1 crore and claimed to be associated with Goldy Brar. The threat was reportedly followed by warnings that the businessman and his family could face serious consequences if the money was not paid. A case was subsequently registered at Roop Nagar police station, following which investigators began examining the phone number, communication trail and other digital evidence. During the investigation, police reportedly discovered that the same UAE-based number had allegedly been used to target another businessman in Rohini.

How Police Traced the Alleged Dubai Connection

The international number initially presented investigators with a complicated trail. Police said their technical analysis indicated that the communication involved infrastructure connected to the UAE. Investigators then began examining the people who could have facilitated communication between the alleged caller abroad and associates in India. According to police, Aarif alias Pistol emerged as an important operational link. Police allege that Aarif contacted a person identified as Aarish, who was reportedly in Dubai, and offered money for making the threatening call. Investigators further allege that Aarish was instructed to speak in a Haryanvi accent so that the call would appear to have originated from a local criminal associate rather than someone operating from outside India.

Three Suspects Arrested in the Investigation

Delhi Police identified the three arrested suspects as Mubarik alias Gullu, Aarif alias Pistol and Nawab Ali alias Sonij. According to police, Mubarik allegedly played a central role in planning the extortion attempt. Investigators allege that he provided information to other accused persons and arranged accommodation in Delhi for suspected shooters. Aarif was allegedly functioning as a link between the Dubai-based caller and the Indian side of the operation. Police said he was arrested in Ahmedabad with the assistance of Gujarat Police. Nawab Ali has allegedly been identified as one of the suspected shooters who had been recruited to carry out the intimidation plan. Police said he was apprehended near Rewari while travelling by train, with assistance from the Railway Protection Force.

Alleged Plan to Attack Businessman's Residence

One of the most serious aspects of the investigation is the alleged plan to open fire at the residence of one of the businessmen if the extortion demand was not fulfilled. Police said intelligence gathered during the investigation indicated that suspected shooters had been brought into the picture and were allegedly preparing to carry out the attack. The investigators then increased security around the targeted residence. According to police, the preventive measures helped stop the alleged firing plan before it could be executed. Investigators subsequently arrested suspects believed to have been connected with the preparation of the alleged attack.

Four Suspected Shooters Were Allegedly Recruited

Police said the investigation revealed that four suspected shooters had allegedly been engaged for the intimidation plan. According to the investigation, some of the suspected shooters were from Haryana and Uttar Pradesh. The police are continuing efforts to locate those who remain unaccounted for. Investigators are also examining whether the suspected shooters were recruited specifically for these two cases or had been involved in other criminal activities. The alleged use of shooters indicates that the investigators are examining the case not only as an extortion matter but also as a suspected planned attack intended to increase pressure on the victims.

Second Extortion Case Helped Strengthen the Investigation

The discovery of the second victim became an important development in the investigation because police allegedly found that the same UAE number had been used. The second businessman was reportedly targeted only days after the first alleged extortion attempt. The caller allegedly demanded ₹1 crore and gave a short deadline, while also threatening the family with violence. Police said the similarity between the two incidents, including the use of the same UAE number and references to the Goldy Brar gang, helped investigators connect the cases and broaden the probe.

Police Examine Digital Evidence and Money Trail

Investigators are now examining communication records, digital evidence and financial transactions to establish the complete structure of the alleged network. Police are also trying to trace the person who allegedly made the calls from Dubai and identify other individuals who may have facilitated the operation. The investigation is expected to focus on how instructions were communicated, how the suspected shooters were allegedly contacted and whether payments were made to people involved in the operation. The police are also examining whether the same group may have targeted other individuals using similar methods.

Investigation Still Underway

The arrests have provided investigators with several alleged links connecting the overseas caller, Indian intermediaries and suspected shooters. However, police are continuing the investigation to determine the full extent of the network and the individual roles of those involved. The alleged connection with Goldy Brar remains a matter being investigated by authorities. The arrests and allegations described in the case are based on the police investigation, and the accused remain entitled to due process. For now, investigators are focusing on locating the remaining suspects, identifying the alleged Dubai-based caller and determining whether the network was involved in additional extortion attempts.
