Bihar Flood Situation: Central Team to Visit State for Assessment

Bihar will soon receive a central team led by Union Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan to assess the flood situation across the state. Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary said the team will review conditions in affected areas, although he did not specify the date of its visit.

49.67 Lakh People Affected by Floods

Around 49.67 lakh people across 15 districts have been affected by flooding this year. The affected districts include Patna, Bhojpur, Saran, Vaishali, Bhagalpur, Begusarai, Buxar, Samastipur, Munger, Katihar, Lakhisarai, Khagaria, Purnea, Madhepura and Araria.

The widespread flooding has increased pressure on the state administration to strengthen relief efforts and improve preparedness in vulnerable areas.

Government Focuses on Long-Term Flood Control

Choudhary said the state government is working towards finding a permanent solution to Bihar’s recurring flood problem. He stressed the importance of river conservation, better water management and long-term flood-control measures.

The central team’s assessment is expected to help authorities understand the damage and requirements of flood-affected areas.

September Rainfall Above Normal

Bihar has recorded 112.7 millimetres of rainfall so far in September, around 6% above normal, according to officials.

Higher-than-normal rainfall has contributed to difficult conditions in several parts of the state. Authorities are continuing to monitor the situation in affected districts.

Speaking at a Hindi Diwas programme and poetry conference in Patna, Choudhary also announced a two-day Hindi literary conclave.

Writers, poets and scholars from across the country are expected to participate in the event. The chief minister also praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi for presenting India’s views in Hindi at the recent BRICS Summit.
