Haryanvi singer and YouTuber Ankit Balyan was shot dead outside a gym in Shamli district of Uttar Pradesh on Wednesday evening, police said. Attackers arrived on two motorcycles and fired several rounds at Balyan as he was leaving the gym. He died at the scene.

The shooting took place in the Kotwali police station area, triggering protests from Balyan’s family members, supporters and members of the local community.

Ankit Balyan Shot Outside Shamli Gym

Balyan had reportedly completed his workout and was leaving the gym around 6:30 to 6:45 pm when the attackers opened fire.

Gym owner Ravi Sharma told ANI that Balyan regularly visited the gym. According to Sharma, around 15 to 20 rounds were fired during the attack.

Balyan was rushed to a hospital after the shooting but doctors could not save him.

Police teams reached the area soon after the incident and began collecting evidence from the crime scene.

Attackers Escaped on Motorcycles

Police said the assailants arrived on two motorcycles and fled from the area after firing at Balyan.

Investigators are examining CCTV footage from nearby locations to identify the attackers and establish their escape route.

Police have formed several teams to investigate the killing and arrest those responsible.

Shamli Superintendent of Police NP Singh said investigators were examining all possible angles and working to determine the motive behind the murder.

Protests Erupt After Singer's Killing

Balyan’s death led to protests near the crime scene. Family members and supporters blocked the Delhi-Muzaffarnagar road near Verma Market Tiraha, located around 50 metres from the shooting site.

Protesters demanded the immediate arrest of those responsible and strict action against the accused.

Police personnel were deployed in the area to maintain law and order as tensions rose following the killing.

Police Investigate Possible Motive

Investigators are examining several possible angles behind the murder.

Police have not officially established a motive for the shooting. Authorities are reviewing CCTV footage and gathering information about Balyan’s activities and possible disputes.

There was also speculation that Balyan may have been preparing to contest upcoming panchayat elections. However, authorities and his associates had not officially confirmed that he planned to enter the election, and there was no confirmation that any political connection was involved in his killing.

Akhilesh Yadav Condemns Killing

Samajwadi Party president Akhilesh Yadav condemned Balyan’s murder and raised questions over law and order in Uttar Pradesh.

Yadav called for a detailed investigation and said authorities should also examine the possibility of political rivalry as part of the probe.

His comments came as Balyan’s family and supporters demanded swift action against the attackers.

CCTV Footage May Help Identify Attackers

Police are examining CCTV cameras installed around the gym and nearby roads.

Investigators are expected to review footage showing the attackers’ arrival, the shooting and their escape on motorcycles.

Police teams are also collecting witness statements and other evidence from the area as the investigation continues.
