Amit Shah to attend Seva Jyoti Yatra in Gurugram on October 7

Union Home Minister Amit Shah is scheduled to attend the Seva Jyoti Yatra programme in Gurugram on October 7, as part of the ongoing nationwide Seva Sankalp Abhiyan. Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini will preside over the programme. The main event is scheduled to begin at 10 am at the parking area of Maharana Pratap Swarn Jayanti Udyan, popularly known as Leisure Valley, in Gurugram. The programme is expected to bring together participants and representatives from several districts of Haryana. According to Gurugram deputy commissioner Uttam Singh, preparations are being coordinated across different government departments to ensure that the programme and the associated activities are conducted smoothly.

What is the Seva Jyoti Yatra in Gurugram?

The Gurugram programme is being organised under the wider Seva Sankalp Abhiyan, which is being observed from September 17 to October 17. The campaign includes activities focused on public participation, service, awareness and development. The Seva Jyoti Yatra is one of the activities being organised during this period. The campaign has also included public outreach programmes and cultural activities in Gurugram. Earlier, street plays were organised at government schools, colleges and villages in the district as part of the campaign. The broader campaign is aimed at involving people through different programmes rather than limiting activities to a single central event. Various service-related initiatives, awareness programmes and public participation activities are being conducted during the campaign period.

Participants expected from five neighbouring districts

The October 7 event is expected to see participation not only from Gurugram but also from Faridabad, Palwal, Nuh, Rewari and Jhajjar. The participation from these districts is expected to add a wider regional dimension to the programme. With a large gathering anticipated at the Leisure Valley venue, district officials have been asked to make arrangements in advance for visitors, traffic movement and security. The administration is also coordinating with departments responsible for traffic management and other arrangements so that regular movement in the city is not unnecessarily disrupted during the programme.

Traffic and security arrangements being reviewed

Gurugram deputy commissioner Uttam Singh reviewed the preparations during a meeting with officials at the conference hall of the Mini Secretariat on Monday evening. During the meeting, officials from the departments concerned were instructed to maintain coordination and ensure smooth traffic movement during the event. Special attention is being given to the movement of commuters and local residents because the programme is expected to attract a significant number of visitors. Officials have also been asked to identify and manage parking requirements for people attending the programme. Security arrangements along the route of the march are another major focus. The district administration has directed officials to ensure adequate security cover and proper coordination between the departments involved. The arrangements are intended to allow the public programme to proceed while reducing inconvenience for people travelling through the surrounding areas.

Torch march planned after the main programme

The activities will not end with the main gathering at Leisure Valley. After the central programme, a torch march is planned for the four assembly constituencies of Gurugram district. The march will form another part of the campaign's public outreach programme and is expected to take the message of the Seva Sankalp Abhiyan beyond the main event venue. The torch march is also likely to bring additional movement to different parts of the district, making route management and security planning important for the administration.

Seva Sankalp Abhiyan continues until October 17

The Seva Sankalp Abhiyan is being observed between September 17 and October 17, with a range of activities centred on service, public awareness, participation and development. In Gurugram, the campaign has already included programmes involving schools, colleges, villages and local communities. Earlier activities included street plays at 30 locations across the district, with cultural groups performing at educational institutions and villages. The campaign is also linked with a wider series of public and service-oriented activities being conducted during the period. The government's separate Swachhata Hi Seva 2026 campaign has also been observed during this period, with a focus on cleanliness, civic responsibility and public participation.

Why October 7 programme is important for Gurugram

The October 7 event will bring a major national political figure to Gurugram while also involving the state leadership and participants from multiple Haryana districts. For the district administration, the priority is expected to remain the smooth conduct of the event, security of participants and uninterrupted movement of residents and commuters. With Amit Shah attending as chief guest and Nayab Singh Saini presiding over the programme, the Amit Shah Gurugram visit is set to be a significant event in the district's ongoing Seva Sankalp activities. The programme at Leisure Valley will be followed by the planned torch march across the four Gurugram assembly constituencies, extending the day's activities beyond the main venue.
