Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) National President Nitin Nabin has called for a detailed review of the party's performance after it lost two of the three Assembly bypolls held in Bihar, Madhya Pradesh, and Gujarat. While the BJP retained the Manjalpur seat in Gujarat, it suffered defeats in Bankipur, Bihar, and Datia, Madhya Pradesh—both considered long-standing party strongholds.

Nabin said the BJP respects the mandate delivered by voters and will carefully assess the reasons behind the electoral setbacks.

In his first public reaction to the bypoll results, Nitin Nabin thanked voters in Gujarat's Manjalpur constituency for supporting the BJP and congratulated party workers for the victory.

Referring to the defeats in Bankipur and Datia, he said the party would undertake a serious introspection of the election outcomes and continue working to strengthen public trust with renewed commitment and determination.

Bankipur Loss Marks Historic Setback

The Bankipur bypoll delivered one of the biggest political surprises, with Jan Suraaj Party founder Prashant Kishor defeating BJP candidate Neeraj Kumar by a margin of more than 19,000 votes.

The constituency had remained a BJP bastion since 1995 and was previously represented by Nitin Nabin himself for four consecutive terms before he became the party's national president. The defeat is being viewed as a symbolic setback for the BJP in Bihar.

Datia Defeat Adds to BJP's Challenges

The BJP also lost the Datia Assembly bypoll in Madhya Pradesh, another constituency regarded as a traditional party stronghold.
