President of India Smt. Droupadi Murmu on Tuesday addressed a joint sitting of both Houses of Parliament, laying out a comprehensive vision for Viksit Bharat 2047 and calling it a shared national mission that goes beyond political differences.

Describing the first 25 years of the 21st century as a period that strengthened India’s foundation, the President said the coming decades would determine how effectively the country transforms economic strength, social justice, technological advancement and cultural pride into long term national progress. She said reforms carried out over the last decade have created a strong base for India’s rapid journey towards becoming a developed nation by the centenary of Independence.

The President stressed that development must be inclusive and rooted in constitutional values. Referring to the ideals of Babasaheb Ambedkar, she said true social justice ensures equal rights and dignity for every citizen without discrimination. She underlined that governance efforts are focused on empowering the poor, strengthening welfare delivery and ensuring transparency in systems.

Highlighting India’s democratic spirit, President Murmu urged Members of Parliament to rise above ideological differences on issues of national interest. She said while diverse opinions are the strength of democracy, unity on matters such as national security, economic self reliance, social harmony and development is essential for the country’s progress.

The President concluded by saying that Viksit Bharat is not the responsibility of one government or one generation alone, but a continuous journey shaped by collective discipline, commitment and determination. Expressing confidence in Parliament and the people of India, she said the nation stands at a decisive moment where today’s decisions will define the future.
