Social activist Sonam Wangchuk has announced that he will continue his indefinite hunger strike following police action against Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) protesters during their "Sansad Chalo" march in New Delhi. Wangchuk, who is currently admitted to a Delhi hospital, said he would not end his fast until CJP leaders are allowed to meet Members of Parliament or MPs visit him at the hospital.

The hunger strike is linked to demands for accountability over alleged irregularities in the NEET-UG examination and calls for the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan.

Wangchuk Criticises Police Action

In a handwritten statement shared on social media, Wangchuk criticised what he described as the police's handling of peaceful demonstrators during the protest march toward Parliament.

He said the treatment of students had compelled him to continue his fast and appealed to the government to allow youth representatives to present their concerns before Members of Parliament through peaceful dialogue.

Appeal for Peaceful Resolution

Wangchuk urged both the government and law enforcement agencies to resolve the issue through discussions instead of confrontation. He also praised the protesters for maintaining peace despite tensions and encouraged them to continue demonstrating peacefully.

He expressed hope that the government would address the concerns raised by students and take appropriate action regarding the demands linked to the examination controversy.

Government Holds Initial Talks With CJP

Union Health Minister J.P. Nadda confirmed that representatives of the Cockroach Janata Party approached the government for discussions. According to the minister, the meeting was held in a cordial atmosphere, during which the delegation submitted a written memorandum outlining its demands.

The government appealed to protesters to end the demonstration and cooperate with authorities in restoring normal public services.

Wangchuk's Wife Criticises Government Response

Wangchuk's wife, Dr. Gitanjali Angmo, criticised the government's handling of the protests, alleging excessive police action and restrictions on public movement. She said large numbers of young people from across the country had participated in the demonstrations and urged the government to address their concerns through dialogue rather than force.
