PM Modi’s Five-Nation Tour Aims to Boost India’s Global Partnerships

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi will begin an important six-day visit to five countries this Friday, as India looks to strengthen its global partnerships during a time of rising international tensions and economic uncertainty. The tour will include visits to the United Arab Emirates, Netherlands, Sweden, Norway, and Italy.

The visit comes at a very important time for India. Global energy markets remain unstable because of tensions in the Middle East, while competition in trade, technology, and investment is increasing across the world. India is trying to build stronger ties with trusted partners to protect its economy and secure future growth.

The first stop of the tour will be the UAE, where Prime Minister Modi will meet UAE President Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan. Discussions are expected to focus on energy cooperation, trade, investment, and regional security issues. The UAE is one of India’s most important partners in the Gulf region and also home to more than 4.5 million Indians.

The UAE visit is especially important because India depends heavily on oil and gas imports from Gulf countries. Rising tensions in the Middle East have already increased concerns about global fuel prices and supply routes. Strengthening ties with Gulf partners is therefore becoming more important for India’s economic security.

After the UAE, Prime Minister Modi will travel to the Netherlands, where he will meet King Willem-Alexander, Queen Máxima, and Dutch Prime Minister Rob Jetten. Talks are expected to focus on defence, semiconductors, water management, innovation, and green hydrogen technology.

The Netherlands has become one of India’s major trade and investment partners in Europe. India is also interested in Dutch semiconductor technology and advanced manufacturing systems, which are becoming increasingly important for global technology competition.

In the next stage of the visit, Modi will travel to Sweden and hold talks with Swedish Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson. The discussions are expected to focus on artificial intelligence, clean energy, startups, defence, and climate cooperation. Both leaders will also address the European Round Table for Industry alongside European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen.

Sweden and other Nordic countries are seen as important partners for India’s future technology and green energy goals. India wants to increase cooperation in areas such as renewable energy, space technology, resilient supply chains, and innovation.

Prime Minister Modi will then visit Norway for the third India-Nordic Summit. During the visit, he will meet Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre as well as King Harald V and Queen Sonja. This will be the first visit by an Indian Prime Minister to Norway in more than four decades.

The India-Nordic Summit is expected to focus on clean technology, trade, sustainability, Arctic cooperation, and the blue economy. India is increasing its engagement with Nordic countries because of their strong expertise in green industries and advanced technologies.

In the final stage of the tour, Prime Minister Modi will visit Italy and meet Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni and President Sergio Mattarella. The two countries are expected to discuss defence cooperation, trade, clean energy, and scientific partnerships under their Joint Strategic Action Plan 2025-2029.

The visit shows how India is trying to expand its diplomatic and economic influence across both Europe and the Middle East. At a time of global uncertainty, India is focusing on stronger international partnerships in energy, technology, trade, and security.
