Shubman Gill Becomes World No. 1 ODI Batter, Vaibhav Sooryavanshi Makes Massive ICC Rankings Leap

India captain Shubman Gill has become the world's No.1 ODI batter in the latest ICC rankings after impressive performances in the recent ODI series against England.

The 26-year-old replaces Daryl Mitchell at the top of the rankings, while teenage batting sensation Vaibhav Sooryavanshi has made one of the biggest jumps in the latest T20I rankings.

Gill Overtakes Daryl Mitchell

Gill earned the top ranking following scores of:

  • 80 not out in the first ODI against England.
  • 77 in the third ODI at Lord's.

His consistent performances helped him move ahead of New Zealand's Daryl Mitchell, who slipped to second after a mixed ODI series against the West Indies.

India's senior batters Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma occupy the third and fourth positions respectively in the ODI batting rankings.

Vaibhav Sooryavanshi Jumps 230 Places

Fifteen-year-old Vaibhav Sooryavanshi enjoyed a remarkable rise in the ICC T20I batting rankings after an impressive series against Zimbabwe.

The young opener scored 151 runs in the three-match series, including two half-centuries, helping him surge from 278th to 48th, a jump of 230 places.

The rise marks one of the biggest movements in the latest ICC rankings update.
