IND vs SL 1st Test Day 3: Dickwella and Dinusha Lead Sri Lanka Fightback

India were bowled out for 462 runs on Day 3 of the first Test against Sri Lanka in Galle. India had resumed the day at 460/9 before adding only two runs to their total.

Devdutt Padikkal was the standout performer for India, scoring a superb 167, while KL Rahul contributed 82 and Dhruv Jurel made 51. Sri Lanka's Prabath Jayasuriya finished with four wickets.

India Strike Early With the Ball

Sri Lanka's reply began badly as Mohammed Siraj struck with the second delivery of the innings, putting the hosts under immediate pressure.

India's bowlers continued to attack the Sri Lankan top order, with Manav Suthar making a major impact. Sri Lanka slipped to 99/5 at lunch, leaving India with a commanding advantage of 363 runs.

Dickwella and Dinusha Rescue Sri Lanka

Sri Lanka found a way back into the contest through Niroshan Dickwella and Sonal Dinusha.

After losing five wickets quickly, the pair produced a determined counterattack and built a century partnership. Their resistance changed the momentum of the innings and gave Sri Lanka hope of reducing India's huge first-innings advantage.

By the later stages of Day 3, the partnership had pushed Sri Lanka beyond 230/5, with Dickwella and Dinusha continuing to frustrate India's bowlers.

India Still Hold Strong Advantage

Despite Sri Lanka's fightback, India remain in a commanding position because of their massive first-innings total.

India's challenge now is to break the Dickwella-Dinusha partnership and prevent Sri Lanka from closing the deficit significantly.

With the Galle pitch offering assistance to spinners, India's attack will look to use the conditions to finish the Sri Lankan innings and secure a substantial first-innings lead.
