VD Satheesan Takes Oath as Kerala CM After Historic UDF Win

A new political chapter began in Kerala as senior Congress leader V. D. Satheesan took oath as the state’s new Chief Minister. The swearing-in ceremony was held in Thiruvananthapuram and attended by several national and state leaders along with thousands of supporters and party workers.

The Congress-led United Democratic Front (UDF) returned to power after nearly ten years by winning a strong majority in the Kerala Assembly elections. The victory ended the long rule of the Left Democratic Front (LDF), which had governed the state for the last two terms.

The atmosphere during the oath-taking ceremony was full of celebration. Supporters gathered in large numbers, waving party flags and cheering for the new leadership. Along with Satheesan, several ministers also took oath as members of the new cabinet. The team includes experienced leaders as well as younger faces expected to bring fresh ideas into the government.

V. D. Satheesan has been an important figure in Kerala politics for many years. Known for his strong speeches and active role in the Assembly, he became one of the leading opposition voices during the previous government’s rule. His appointment as Chief Minister is seen as a major achievement for both him and the Congress party.

In his first speech after taking oath, Satheesan promised to focus on development, transparency, and public welfare. He said the government would work for all people of Kerala and try to improve daily life through better governance and economic growth.

The new government faces several important challenges. Rising prices, unemployment, financial pressure, and development needs remain major concerns in the state. Many young people are also looking for better job opportunities, and citizens expect the government to create more employment and attract investment.

Political experts believe the Kerala victory has also given new confidence to the Congress party at the national level. After facing difficulties in several states, the party sees this win as an important political comeback.

For the Left Democratic Front, the defeat marks the end of a decade in power. Many voters appeared ready for change and supported the UDF’s promise of fresh leadership and new policies.

The peaceful transfer of power once again showed the strength of India’s democratic system. Now, people across Kerala will closely watch how the new government performs and whether it can fulfill the promises made during the election campaign.
