Government Assures Sufficient Petrol and Diesel Stocks Across India

The Indian government has assured citizens that there are sufficient stocks of petrol and diesel available across the country and that fuel supplies remain stable despite growing tensions in West Asia. Officials said there is no reason for panic buying and that oil companies and refineries are operating normally to meet national demand.

The assurance came during an inter-ministerial briefing in New Delhi, where senior officials discussed the impact of recent developments in West Asia on India’s energy supply and economy. Joint Secretary in the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas, Sujata Sharma, stated that the government is closely monitoring the situation and ensuring uninterrupted fuel supply for consumers across the country.

Officials said all refineries in India are functioning at high capacity and that adequate crude oil inventories are available. The government also confirmed that LPG cylinders are being delivered continuously to households without disruption. Over the last few days, more than one crore LPG cylinders were reportedly supplied to consumers.

The statement comes at a time when concerns over global oil supply have increased because of rising conflict and instability in the Middle East. The region is extremely important for international energy markets because many countries, including India, import large amounts of crude oil from Gulf nations.

In recent weeks, rumors about possible shortages led to panic buying in some areas, especially in Andhra Pradesh, where long queues were seen at petrol pumps. However, officials clarified that the issue was temporary and caused mainly by unusually high demand rather than any real shortage of fuel.

The government urged citizens not to believe false rumors circulating on social media. Officials stressed that India currently has enough fuel reserves and does not face any immediate supply crisis.

Union Petroleum Minister Hardeep Singh Puri has also repeatedly assured the public that India’s energy supply remains secure despite global geopolitical tensions. He said the government’s priority is to ensure affordable and uninterrupted fuel availability for all citizens.

Apart from fuel supplies, the government also reviewed the availability of fertilizers, crop seeds, and other essential materials needed for the upcoming Kharif farming season. Officials stated that sufficient stocks are available and that preparations are being made to avoid any disruption linked to international tensions.

Experts believe India’s diversified energy import strategy and strong refinery network have helped the country manage global supply shocks more effectively. India has expanded oil imports from different countries in recent years to reduce overdependence on any single region.

The government’s latest assurance is aimed at maintaining public confidence during a period of global uncertainty. Rising tensions in West Asia have affected oil prices and shipping routes internationally, but Indian authorities say the country remains well prepared to handle such challenges.
