Critical Minerals Key to Atmanirbhar Bharat, Says G Kishan Reddy

Critical minerals in India are becoming very important for the country’s growth and self-reliance. Union Minister G Kishan Reddy has said that these minerals will play a major role in achieving the goal of Atmanirbhar Bharat and strengthening the Indian economy.

Critical minerals like lithium, cobalt, nickel, and rare earth elements are used in many modern technologies. These include electric vehicles, mobile phones, batteries, solar panels, and defence equipment. Without these minerals, industries such as renewable energy and electronics cannot grow.

At present, India depends on imports for many of these minerals. This creates a risk because supply can be affected by global issues. G Kishan Reddy explained that reducing this dependence is necessary for long-term stability. This is why the government is focusing on increasing domestic production and exploration.

The Atmanirbhar Bharat mission aims to make India self-reliant in important sectors. Critical minerals are a key part of this plan because they support new technologies and industrial development. As India moves toward clean energy and digital growth, the demand for these minerals is increasing quickly.

One of the biggest areas where these minerals are needed is electric vehicles (EVs). Lithium batteries are essential for EVs, and their demand is rising as India promotes green transport. Similarly, renewable energy systems like solar and wind power also depend on these minerals for energy storage.

The government has started several steps to support the critical minerals sector. New mining policies, auctions, and investments are being encouraged to boost production. These steps are expected to create jobs and strengthen the economy.

Recycling is also becoming an important solution. Used batteries and electronic waste contain valuable minerals that can be recovered and reused. This reduces the need for imports and supports environmental protection.

India is also building partnerships with other countries to secure a stable supply of critical minerals. However, the long-term goal is to become self-sufficient and reduce dependence on foreign sources.

The focus on critical minerals in India is not just about economic growth. It is also about national security. Countries that control key resources have a strong advantage in global competition. By developing its own resources, India can protect its interests and ensure stability.

At the same time, experts say that mining should be done carefully. Environmental protection and sustainable development must be kept in mind. Balancing growth and nature is important for the future.

The statement by G Kishan Reddy clearly shows that critical minerals will play a big role in India’s development. As technology grows, the demand for these resources will continue to rise.

In simple terms, critical minerals are the backbone of modern industries. They power new technologies and support economic progress. For India, focusing on these minerals is an important step toward a stronger and self-reliant future.
