PM Modi Completes 12 Years in Office as Yogi Adityanath Highlights Development Push

Prime Minister Narendra Modi completed 12 years in office, marking a major political milestone that drew reactions from leaders across the country, including Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, who praised the government’s focus on development, welfare programs, and the vision of a self-reliant India.

Yogi Adityanath said the country has witnessed major changes during the past decade through infrastructure growth, economic reforms, social welfare schemes, and efforts aimed at strengthening India’s position on the global stage.

The statement came as the Bharatiya Janata Party highlighted achievements linked to the Modi government’s long period in power at the Centre. BJP leaders described the last 12 years as a phase of transformation in governance, digital expansion, infrastructure building, and public service delivery.

Narendra Modi first became Prime Minister in 2014 after the BJP secured a major election victory. Since then, his leadership has remained central to Indian politics, with the party continuing to expand its political influence across several states.

During this period, the government launched multiple large-scale infrastructure projects, including highway expansion, railway modernization, airport development, rural electrification, and digital connectivity programs. Supporters of the government believe these initiatives improved public services and increased economic activity in both urban and rural regions.

Welfare programs also became a major part of the administration’s identity. Schemes linked to housing, sanitation, cooking gas connections, healthcare support, bank account access, and financial assistance for farmers were promoted as efforts aimed at improving living conditions for lower-income families.

The idea of a self-reliant India gained stronger importance after the COVID-19 pandemic. The campaign focused on increasing domestic manufacturing, strengthening local industries, reducing import dependence, and encouraging investment within the country.

Government supporters argue that the self-reliance mission created growth opportunities in sectors such as defense production, electronics manufacturing, renewable energy, digital technology, and startup businesses.

At the same time, opposition parties have continued criticizing the government over issues connected to unemployment, inflation, rising living costs, and economic inequality. Critics argue that despite infrastructure growth, several economic and social challenges still need stronger attention.

The 12-year milestone therefore carries both political significance and public debate as different groups continue evaluating the long-term impact of the government’s policies.

India’s international image has also changed during this period. The country increased diplomatic engagement with major global powers while expanding cooperation in trade, defense, technology, and regional security matters.

Supporters frequently point to India’s growing global influence, stronger digital economy, and rising infrastructure investment as important achievements under the current leadership.

The government also pushed large-scale digital reforms through online payment systems, direct benefit transfers, digital identity programs, and technology-based governance initiatives. These measures helped expand digital participation across different sections of society.

However, critics maintain that economic growth must also generate enough employment opportunities for young people entering the workforce every year. Concerns linked to inflation and pressure on middle-class households remain politically important issues in several regions.

Despite political disagreements, Narendra Modi continues to remain one of the most influential leaders in modern Indian politics. His leadership style, public outreach, and national campaigns have significantly shaped the country’s political environment during the last decade.

For the BJP, the completion of 12 years in office represents both an achievement and an opportunity to strengthen political support ahead of future elections. Party leaders are expected to continue highlighting welfare initiatives, infrastructure projects, and economic development as key campaign themes.

Yogi Adityanath’s remarks also reflect the strong political coordination between the BJP’s national and state leadership structures. Uttar Pradesh remains politically important because of its large population and major role in national elections.

Political experts believe the coming years will remain crucial as the government faces rising expectations connected to employment generation, industrial growth, education, healthcare, and long-term economic expansion.

The completion of 12 years under Narendra Modi’s leadership marks an important chapter in India’s political journey, with supporters celebrating developmental achievements while critics continue demanding solutions to ongoing economic and social concerns.

As political discussions continue across the country, the long-term impact of the government’s policies on India’s economy, governance system, and public life will remain closely watched in the years ahead.
