Supreme Court Declines Urgent Hearing on Ram Temple Donation Theft Case, CBI-SIT Plea Deferred

Supreme Court of India on Monday declined to grant an urgent hearing on a petition seeking a court-monitored investigation into the alleged Ram Temple donation theft case. The court observed that there was no immediate need for urgent intervention and directed that the matter be listed before a regular Bench after the court vacations.

The petition seeks the formation of a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI)-led Special Investigation Team (SIT) to investigate allegations of financial irregularities involving donations received by the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust.

Supreme Court Refuses Urgent Listing

During the hearing, the Supreme Court stated that the matter did not require immediate consideration.

The Bench directed that the petition be placed before a regular Bench after the conclusion of the court vacations for further proceedings.

The court did not express any opinion on the merits of the allegations while declining the request for an urgent hearing.

Petition Seeks Court-Monitored CBI-SIT Probe

The petition alleges financial irregularities in the handling of donations collected for the Ram Temple.

The petitioner has requested the constitution of a CBI-led Special Investigation Team under the supervision of the Supreme Court to ensure an independent, fair, and time-bound investigation into the allegations.

The plea argues that a court-monitored inquiry would strengthen transparency and public confidence in the investigation process.

Eight Accused to Appear Before Ayodhya Court

Separately, all eight accused in the alleged Ram Temple donation embezzlement case are scheduled to appear before the Special Court dealing with corruption cases in Ayodhya for judicial custody proceedings.

Authorities have deployed additional police personnel around the court complex to maintain security during the proceedings.

The accused were previously remanded to judicial custody and are expected to be produced before the court as part of the ongoing legal process.

Police Investigation Continues

The Uttar Pradesh Police continue to investigate the alleged financial misconduct.

According to officials, investigators have carried out raids, recovered cash, jewellery, and financial documents, and recorded statements from several individuals connected to the case.

Police sources indicate that statements from around 140 people may be recorded as the investigation progresses.

Legal Process Still Ongoing

The Supreme Court's decision only concerns the request for an urgent hearing and does not determine the validity of the allegations.

The petition seeking a CBI-led SIT investigation will now be considered by a regular Bench, while the police investigation and court proceedings in Ayodhya continue separately.
