A 25-year-old farmer was fatally shot outside his home in Kanpur on Wednesday night, in an incident that unfolded only a few hours after he had visited a police station with his elder brother to report an alleged attack. According to the initial police account, a dispute involving a local villager escalated after the family approached the authorities earlier in the day.
