Indian Navy Warships Complete Successful Singapore Visit, Strengthen Maritime Cooperation

Indian Navy's Eastern Fleet warships INS Udaygiri, INS Shakti, and INS Kavaratti have successfully concluded their official visit to Changi Naval Base in Singapore. The visit, led by Rear Admiral Alok Anand, was part of the Indian Navy's ongoing operational deployment aimed at strengthening maritime partnerships in the Indo-Pacific region.

The port call marked another important step in deepening the strategic relationship between India and Singapore, with both countries reaffirming their commitment to regional security, maritime cooperation and a rules-based Indo-Pacific.

Focus on Maritime Cooperation and Naval Interoperability

The three-day visit was organised in line with the ASEAN-India Maritime Cooperation Year and India's Act East Policy. During the visit, naval personnel from both countries participated in several professional interactions designed to enhance operational coordination and strengthen bilateral defence ties.

Officials from the Indian Navy and the Republic of Singapore Navy held discussions on maritime security, naval operations and future cooperation. These engagements provided an opportunity for both sides to exchange operational experiences and improve mutual understanding.

Cross-deck visits were also organised, allowing sailors and officers from both navies to tour each other's warships. These activities were aimed at improving interoperability, promoting the exchange of best practices and enhancing operational readiness during future joint engagements.

Students Visit INS Kavaratti

One of the highlights of the port visit was the educational outreach programme aboard INS Kavaratti, where school students from Singapore were invited to tour the warship.

During the visit, students received first-hand information about life aboard an Indian naval vessel, naval operations and the role of the Indian Navy in ensuring maritime security. Naval personnel interacted with the students and explained the responsibilities of sailors, the functioning of modern warships and the importance of safeguarding sea lanes.

The initiative was intended to inspire young people and increase awareness about maritime security, naval careers and international cooperation at sea.

Strengthening India-Singapore Strategic Partnership

According to the Indian Navy, the successful completion of the Singapore visit has further strengthened the growing maritime partnership between India and Singapore.

The professional engagements conducted during the visit helped reinforce mutual trust, improve operational coordination and expand defence cooperation between the two countries. Such interactions are expected to contribute to greater regional stability, secure maritime trade routes and stronger collaboration in addressing common maritime challenges.

India and Singapore have steadily expanded their defence relationship over the years through naval exercises, training exchanges, port visits and regular strategic dialogues. The latest deployment reflects both countries' shared commitment to maintaining peace, stability and security across the Indo-Pacific region.

India Continues to Enhance Regional Naval Engagement

The successful visit also highlights the Indian Navy's continued focus on strengthening defence diplomacy through international naval engagements. Regular overseas deployments and port visits play an important role in building partnerships, enhancing interoperability and supporting India's vision of a free, open and inclusive Indo-Pacific.
