Guwahati Woman Dies After Bike Taxi Accident While Travelling to Noida

A routine journey from Delhi towards Noida turned into a tragedy for 22-year-old Hrishita Lahon, a young woman from Guwahati's Noonmati area. Hrishita was travelling as a passenger on a bike taxi when the motorcycle was allegedly struck by a bus. She suffered critical injuries and later died during treatment. According to the family, Hrishita had been travelling to Noida for her education and internship. She had moved away from her hometown to continue building her career and was pursuing higher studies while also gaining professional experience. The incident has left her family and friends devastated, particularly because she had moved to Delhi with plans for her future and had only recently started her internship.

What Happened During The Journey

The accident took place on September 28. NDTV's report, citing the family, said Hrishita was travelling on a Rapido bike taxi when the motorcycle was involved in a severe collision with a bus. Other reports based on police information place the crash near Delhi's Ashram Flyover, while Hrishita was travelling towards Noida. Police records cited by multiple news organisations say the accident was reported around 10 am and that the bike was allegedly hit from behind by a bus. The bike taxi rider, identified in police reports as Darab Singh, was also injured in the collision. He later told investigators that a bus had allegedly struck the motorcycle from behind. Police have been examining the circumstances of the crash as part of the investigation.

Hrishita Was Studying And Doing An Internship

Hrishita had completed her undergraduate studies from Maitreyi College under the University of Delhi. She was continuing her education through IGNOU while also working as an intern in Delhi. Her family said she had found an advertisement for the internship and was selected after appearing for an interview. She had been trying to balance her academic work with her professional responsibilities. For her family, the move to Delhi represented an important stage in her life. She was living away from home while working towards her education and career. Her mother, Arati Baruah Lahon, recalled that Hrishita regularly stayed connected with her family despite her busy schedule. She would often speak with her mother and also remind family members about everyday things such as taking medicines and eating meals on time.

Why She Took A Bike Taxi That Day

According to her mother, Hrishita normally travelled between Delhi and Noida using the metro. However, on the day of the accident, she chose to take a bike taxi instead. Her mother said the accident occurred only a short distance from where Hrishita was living. The family was initially unaware of the seriousness of the situation. The first information reached them through a woman who had found Hrishita's phone and informed the family that she had been taken to a hospital. The family immediately arranged travel to Delhi. In the meantime, Hrishita's roommate and friends reached the hospital and helped the family during the difficult period.

Doctors Tried To Save Her

After the accident, Hrishita was critically injured and required urgent medical treatment. She was taken to a hospital before being shifted for further treatment because of the seriousness of her condition. According to her mother, doctors made efforts to save her life, but her condition remained extremely serious. The family was later informed that she had suffered multiple cardiac arrests. Despite medical treatment, Hrishita could not survive her injuries. Police-related reports have said that her post-mortem examination was conducted at AIIMS before her body was handed over to the family.

Family Remembers Her As Responsible And Caring

While mourning their daughter, Hrishita's family described her as honest, sensible and responsible. Her mother said that even though Hrishita was living away from home, she remained deeply connected with her parents and brother. She regularly checked on their well-being and reminded them to take care of themselves. For the family, these everyday memories have become especially painful after her sudden death. Her friends have also remembered her as a warm and caring person who had developed close relationships during her years in Delhi. Reports from her friends and college community described her as someone who had been building a new life in the capital while maintaining strong connections with those around her.

Family Appeals For Privacy

Following the tragedy, Hrishita's family made an emotional appeal to the public and media to respect her privacy. Her mother said Hrishita was a shy person who valued her personal space. The family does not want details, photographs or other material related to the accident to be circulated in a way that compromises her dignity. The family has asked people to remember Hrishita with respect rather than focusing unnecessarily on personal details surrounding the tragedy. This appeal comes as the family tries to deal with the loss while also seeking appropriate action in connection with the accident.

Family Does Not Blame The Bike Taxi Rider

Hrishita's mother also said the family does not hold any ill will towards the bike taxi rider, who was himself injured in the collision. According to her, the family does not wish harm upon anyone involved and considers the incident a deeply tragic event. The family has expressed gratitude to the people who helped Hrishita after the crash, including the woman who found her phone and helped communicate with the family, as well as Hrishita's friends and roommate who reached the hospital.

Police Investigation Into The Accident

The circumstances surrounding the crash are being investigated. Police reports said investigators examined the area around Ashram Flyover and looked for witnesses who could provide information about the collision. Police also registered a case under relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita relating to rash driving, causing death by negligence and acts endangering life or personal safety. According to police reports, the bus driver had not been located at the time of the initial investigation, while officials were examining available evidence and the motorcycle involved in the crash. The exact circumstances of the collision will be established through the ongoing investigation. Claims about how the bus struck the bike should therefore be treated as allegations or preliminary accounts until confirmed by investigators.

A Family's Final Appeal

For Hrishita's family, the tragedy is not only about a Road Accident. It is the sudden loss of a young woman who had left Guwahati to study, work and create a future for herself. She was pursuing higher education, undertaking an internship and living independently in Delhi. Her journey was cut short while she was travelling towards Noida. Her family has asked people to respect her dignity and allow them space to grieve. They have also expressed hope that the circumstances of the accident will be dealt with appropriately and that the investigation will establish what happened. The tragedy has also renewed attention on safety during app-based Bike Taxi Accident journeys, particularly in busy parts of Delhi where two-wheelers, buses and other vehicles share congested roads.
