Greater Noida Bus Fire Leaves Nine Dead, Two Mahoba Passengers Missing

A devastating Greater Noida Bus Fire has left nine passengers dead and raised serious concern for a family in Mahoba after a woman and her son travelling on the bus could not be traced following the blaze. The incident involved an air-conditioned sleeper bus operated by Raj Kalpana Travels. The bus was travelling from Delhi towards Mahoba when it caught fire near the Jewar Cargo Airport area on the Yamuna Expressway. Among the passengers whose whereabouts remain unknown are Sunita Gupta, 50, and her 32-year-old son Shashank Gupta, residents of Charkhari in Mahoba district. Their family has been waiting for confirmation about their whereabouts while authorities continue identification and verification procedures. The tragedy has become even more difficult for relatives because several of the bodies recovered from the incident were severely burned. This has complicated the identification process and increased the anxiety of families waiting for information about missing passengers.

Bus Caught Fire While Travelling From Delhi Towards Mahoba

According to the information available, the sleeper bus was travelling towards Mahoba when a fire suddenly broke out near the Jewar Cargo Airport area. The flames rapidly spread through the vehicle, leaving passengers with very little time to react. The incident reportedly created panic inside the bus as passengers attempted to escape from the burning vehicle. Some travellers managed to get out by jumping from the bus, while others were rescued from the affected vehicle. The exact circumstances that led to the fire remain a key part of the ongoing investigation. Officials are also working to establish the sequence of events, including how quickly the fire spread and how passengers were able to escape.

Nine Passengers Died in the Tragic Incident

The Bus Fire resulted in nine fatalities. The severity of the flames reportedly left several bodies badly burned, making identification difficult. For families waiting for missing relatives, identification has therefore become an important part of the ongoing process. Authorities and relatives are continuing to coordinate in an effort to match available information with the identities of passengers who were travelling on the bus. The identification process can take additional time when victims have suffered extensive burns. Officials may need to rely on available records and other verification procedures before confirming identities to families.

Sunita Gupta and Son Shashank Still Missing

The biggest concern for the Gupta family is the disappearance of Sunita Gupta and her son Shashank. Sunita, 50, and Shashank, 32, are residents of Charkhari in Mahoba. Shashank works as an engineer with IndiGo Airlines in Gurugram. According to the family, Sunita had been staying with her son in Gurugram for around a month. The two had travelled towards Mahoba because of a family situation. Their relatives became increasingly worried after they failed to make contact following the reported bus fire. The family is now waiting for authorities to provide confirmed information about whether the two were among the passengers affected by the tragedy.

Shashank Spoke To His Father Before The Journey

One of the last known contacts from the family came at around 9:36 pm on the night of the incident. Shashank reportedly called his father, Neeraj Gupta, and told him that they had already left Noida. He expected to reach Mahoba at around 8 am the following morning. The family initially had no reason to believe that anything had gone wrong. However, when relatives attempted to contact Sunita and Shashank the next morning, both of their mobile phones were switched off. The situation became more worrying when the family learned about the fire involving the bus on the expressway. Relatives then began trying to establish whether Sunita and Shashank had survived, been taken to a hospital or were among the passengers whose identities had not yet been confirmed.

Family Contacts Officials In Search For Information

The Gupta family has approached officials and authorities for assistance in locating the missing mother and son. Several relatives of Neeraj Gupta are reportedly associated with administrative positions in Noida and nearby areas. His sister Archana Gupta is a Basic Shiksha Adhikari, while his brother-in-law Vivek Gupta is an SDM. The family has been using these contacts to coordinate with authorities and obtain information about the victims and survivors. Despite continued efforts, relatives had not received definitive information about Sunita and Shashank at the time of the report. The family is also awaiting information through the helpline established in connection with the accident.

35 Passengers Were Reportedly On The Bus

The bus involved in the accident reportedly had 35 passengers on board. Following the incident, 15 passengers who survived were transported to Mahoba in government vehicles. Their safe return has provided some relief to families whose relatives were among the survivors. At the same time, the deaths and missing-person reports have kept the focus on the identification process. Officials are working to determine the identities of the deceased and provide accurate information to families.

Why Identification Has Become A Major Challenge

The condition of several bodies recovered after the Bus Accident has made identification difficult. When victims suffer severe burns, visual identification by relatives may not be possible. Authorities therefore have to follow formal identification and verification procedures before confirming a person's identity. This is particularly important in an incident involving a large number of passengers because incorrect identification could create further distress for families. For relatives of people who remain unaccounted for, the waiting period can be extremely difficult as they depend on official confirmation.

Sunita and Shashank had reportedly planned to travel from Gurugram to Mahoba, but their journey was interrupted by the fatal incident on the expressway. The family is now focused on finding reliable information rather than relying on speculation while authorities continue their work.
