Cockroach Janta Party Intensifies Protest, Seeks Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan’s Resignation

India’s youth-led Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) has continued its sit-in protest in New Delhi, demanding the resignation of Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan over the alleged leak of a national medical entrance examination paper.

The protest has entered its second week as speculation grows over a possible Union Cabinet reshuffle, with media reports suggesting changes in ministerial portfolios. However, the government has not officially confirmed any reshuffle or decisions regarding the education ministry.

Protest Focuses on Exam Paper Leak

The Cockroach Janta Party says its primary demand is the resignation of Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan following the controversy surrounding the alleged leak of question papers for a national medical college entrance examination.

The examination, taken by around 2.3 million candidates, was cancelled after reports of a paper leak and later conducted again under enhanced security arrangements.

The Ministry of Education has not issued any fresh response to the protesters' demands.

Protest at Jantar Mantar Continues

Around 100 supporters have been gathering daily at Jantar Mantar in New Delhi.

Party founder Abhijeet Dipke said the group is monitoring developments related to the expected cabinet reshuffle before deciding its next course of action.

The party, launched only recently, has attracted significant attention on social media, gaining millions of followers in a short period through its campaigns focused on unemployment, education reforms, and youth issues.

Sonam Wangchuk Joins Protest

Social activist Sonam Wangchuk has extended support to the protest and announced a hunger strike.

Wangchuk said he hopes the government will respond to the concerns raised by students and youth before the protest escalates further.

He urged authorities to address public grievances through dialogue and democratic engagement.

Youth Frustration Over Jobs and Exams

The movement has gained traction among young Indians frustrated by repeated examination controversies and employment challenges.

According to government data, India's unemployment rate remained higher among people aged 15 to 29, particularly in urban areas.

Many students have also expressed concerns over examination integrity following recent paper leak incidents affecting competitive recruitment and admission tests.

BJP Criticises the Protest Group

The ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has criticised the Cockroach Janta Party.

BJP leader Nitin Nabin accused such groups of attempting to weaken the country and said party workers would politically counter their campaigns.

The protesters, however, maintain that their movement is focused on accountability, education reforms, and protecting the interests of students.
