Supreme Court Dismisses Plea Against Shah Rukh Khan's Mannat Renovation, Work to Continue

Supreme Court has dismissed a petition challenging the approval granted for renovation work at Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan's iconic Mumbai residence, Mannat. The decision clears the way for renovation work to continue at the sea-facing heritage bungalow located in Bandra West.

The apex court found no merit in the petition and questioned the intent behind filing the case, bringing legal relief to Shah Rukh Khan and his family.

Supreme Court Finds No Merit in the Petition

The petition had been filed by a Mumbai resident who challenged the permissions granted for the renovation of Mannat.

During the hearing, the Supreme Court observed that the petition did not present sufficient grounds to interfere with the approved renovation work. The bench also raised concerns regarding the petitioner's motive, indicating that the intent behind the plea appeared questionable.

After considering the matter, the court dismissed the petition and declined to halt the renovation project.

Renovation Work at Mannat Will Continue

With the plea dismissed, renovation and restoration work at Mannat can now proceed without any legal obstruction.

The renovation aims to upgrade the iconic property while complying with the necessary approvals required for a heritage structure. No stay order has been issued by the court, allowing the ongoing work to continue as planned.

Shah Rukh Khan and Family Temporarily Shifted Residence

As renovation work continues, Shah Rukh Khan, his wife Gauri Khan, and their children Aryan Khan, Suhana Khan, and AbRam Khan have temporarily moved to a luxury residential building in Mumbai's Pali Hill area.

According to reports, the actor has leased multiple floors in the apartment building until the renovation of Mannat is completed.

Mannat: One of Mumbai's Most Iconic Celebrity Homes

Mannat is among the most famous celebrity residences in India and attracts thousands of fans throughout the year.

Located along Mumbai's Bandstand promenade in Bandra West, the property was originally built in 1914 and was earlier known as Villa Vienna. Shah Rukh Khan purchased the bungalow in 2001 and later renamed it Mannat, meaning "a heartfelt wish" or "prayer."

The Grade III heritage property spans approximately 27,000 square feet and combines historic architecture with a modern multi-storey annexe.

The residence reportedly features:

  • Heritage-style architecture
  • Luxury living spaces
  • Private theatre
  • Swimming pool
  • Gymnasium
  • Library
  • Multiple elevators
  • Designer interiors by Gauri Khan

Mannat is widely regarded as one of India's most valuable celebrity homes.

Shah Rukh Khan's Upcoming Film

On the professional front, Shah Rukh Khan is currently working on King, one of the year's most anticipated films.

The movie is scheduled for a theatrical release on December 24, 2026, and is expected to be one of Bollywood's biggest releases of the year.

Why the Court's Decision Matters

The Supreme Court's ruling brings clarity to the legal dispute surrounding the renovation of Mannat and allows the project to move forward without interruption.

The judgment also reinforces that approved renovation work on heritage properties can continue when carried out in accordance with applicable regulations and permissions.
